Jasne gwiazdy świecą krótko - wspomnienie przyjaciela który zmarł zbyt szybko
Tomasz Schreiber, mój promotor, współpracownik, współautor, przyjaciel. Pracować razem zaczęliśmy w 2003 roku, już wtedy był wschodzącą gwiazdą polskiej matematyki. Praca z nim była zawsze przyjemnością. Tomek był człowiekiem który dawał z siebie wszystko, nigdy niczego nie żądał. Zawsze uśmiechnięty, zawsze pełen zapału, pełen wiary w ludzi. Był niesamowicie bystry, szybki, miał fantastyczne poczucie humoru. Matematycznymi symbolami żąglował tak sprawnie, że często trzeba było kilku dni myślenia żeby zrozumieć co on zrobił w kilka sekund. Gdy kilka lat temu Tomek żegnał swojego promotora, profesora Alexandra Nagajewa który zginął w tragicznym wypadku, nie przyszło mi do głowy, że niedługo przyjdzie mi pożegnać Jego. Od kilku lat walczył z ciężką chorobą. Nigdy jednak choroba nie stała się dla niego wymówką. Wręcz przeciwnie, chyba motywowała go do jeszcze cięższej pracy. Zmarł 1 grudnia 2010. Miał 35 lat. Zostawił żonę, kochającą rodzinę, wspaniałych doktorantów i studentów, przyjaciół, dziesiątki niedokończonych myśli matematycznych. Zawsze będę go pamiętał uśmiechniętego.
